Weils Summer update...finally!!!

August 2015

Dear faithful and patient followers,

Yes, finally an update about what has been going on with the Weils over the past several months.  We’ll start with the last two months, April and May, before we left Mozambique for Home Ministry Assignment.

Front of Auditorium getting final paint job
April was a very busy month with Larry working hard to finish as much of the new auditorium as possible before we left in June.  It has been exciting to see the final result and know it will be a blessing for CAM school and our mission as it is used for years ahead.  Although not everything got finished, it is 99% done and is now being used for CAM school, which began August 4th with a record 130 students.

Overlooking Lisbon, Portugal
In April we also able to fly to Portugal for the ACSI  (Association of Christian Schools International) Administrators conference.  It was amazing and we also were able to meet up with our Portuguese teacher from 1999 as well as our Pastor and his wife for a day of sightseeing in Lisbon.

May was a whirlwind of activity at CAM school.  May 16th was the annual CAM picnic and Talent Show.  This was the first major use of the new auditorium.  It was also the dedication of the building and the first opportunity for the students and parents to see it first hand.

CAM drama: Hunchback of Notre Dame

A week later was the CAM drama “Hunchback of Notre Dame” which was on the new stage in the auditorium.  The kids pulled it off wonderfully and it was enjoyed by all.  We are looking forward to more productions and programs this next year.

May 31st was the CAM graduation, also held in the new auditorium.  The school has grown so much over the past few years that using the seminary chapel is not possible.  It was an exciting day for our seven graduates.

June was a blur of activity for both of us as we tried to finish projects, hand over responsibilities, pack and say our goodbyes.

Laura Almeida, our CAM graduate and daughter of OMS missionaries Paulo and Fernanada, accompanied us on our trip to the US and she is now in a six-month internship at OMS headquarters in Greenwood, IN.  We spent about two weeks at OMS for meetings and debriefings.

Martin & Susan Brooks, Larry & Susan, Claude and Marilynn Meyers
One weekend we went to Louisville, KY to visit good friends Martin and Susan Brooks.  A highlight was to attend an IFTAR dinner one evening at the Turkey community Center as Muslims celebrated Ramadan.  Martin and Susan minister with Muslims building bridges and relationships.  It was a special treat to have Claude and Marilynn Meyers (founders of CAM School and dear colleagues and friends),  there at the same time.

The end of June we flew to Buffalo, NY and Susan’s Dad, Nathan Krampitz met us and drove us back to Hamilton where he and Anne live.  We were able to spend time with Anne’s family, do some fun things together, share at church and visit the OMS Canada office.

It was time to head “home” to Sequim, WA and we arrived in Seattle July 13th and picked up by good friends, Dave and Joyce Thomas from Sequim Bible Church.  We were blessed with gift cards to several grocery stores, which helped us stock up on food.  We are staying in a wonderful home that has everything in it we need.  It is the same home we stayed in last furlough and we so much appreciate Bill and Nancy’s generosity.

Krampitz Family Reunion at Sun Peaks, BC

The end of July we had Susan’s dad and brother Paul visit us in Sequim.  We then went up to Sun Peaks for the annual Krampitz family reunion.  It was great seeing all the aunts, cousins and kids all in one place.  Susan and I led the Sunday service and were able to share our testimonies and what the Lord is doing in Mozambique.

It has taken us some time to settle in and recover from the busy schedules we both had in Mozambique.  It has been special to visit friends and supporters and churches.

We are currently in Oregon at Larry’s brothers home where we were able to attend Larry’s nephew’s wedding.  This weekend we will be in Florence, OR and share at a church as well as pick up over 600 new library books for CAM School. They will be shipped to Mozambique early next year.

We want to be able to meet up with as many of you as we can, so give us a call at 303-906-9763 or email us at lsweil@gmail.com and we will arrange a time to be with you.  Our hope and goal is to have our complete support by mid April 2016 so we can return to Mozambique by early May 2016.

God bless,

Larry and Susan
